Banana Diet

We know the Japanese are generally healthy and on average thinner than us westerners. This is widely known to be because of the healthy fish based diet they have embedded in their culture but there is another reason.

The youth and particularly the female population are obsessed with diets. OK, that's the same as in the west, but for them it tends to work, so its worth paying attention when a new fad diet like the new Banana Diet appears in the east that seems too simple not to try.

All you have to do is eat a banana or a number of bananas for breakfast with a glass of warm water. Lunch and dinner can be whatever you choose but skip on the desert, unless its yet another banana.

So why are the Japanese going ape crazy for this diet? Well, its the success stories that accompany the books and day TV. An overweight husband put on this stress free and simple diet loses 37 pounds and 15 pounds off for a singer shown on a popular local TV program.

The banana is of course a healthy fruit to eat. Its packed full of protein, minerals and vitamins. Additional to its good nutritional value, it is also a good source of quick energy as demonstrated by all those tennis players gobbling a banana down in the 5th set tie break.

There is actually a shortage of bananas in Japan due to this new diet craze. So, get your monkey costume on and head down to the supermarket. It's time to go bananas for bananas!
